Carver: "See, that's why we can't win."

Herc: "Why not?"

Carver: "They fuck up, they get beat. We fuck up, they give us pensions."

This is what I don’t understand about this sub. Any mention of Jussie Smollett and Kim Foxx and there are hard-ons for days. And while it was corrupt in nature, it was a victimless crime.

And then you have this story, and the response is basically shrugs, that’s Chicago politics for ya

The investigation wasn't bungled, it went exactly how it was supposed to go. Until the newspapers found it and let everyone know the double standards that those related to Daley benefit from.

Eh after reading the article I call this a hit a piece. (No pun intended) He was not in charge of the initial investigation but the reopening of it after 7 years. The nephew threw a single punch that killed dude. That's horrible but not like he repeatedly beat the f*** out of him. After Fox 32 uncovered this, a special prosecutor was assigned and the nephew got 60 days for manslaughter. They make it seems like he was on-site after the incident and messed up the investigation. And dam the grammar in this article makes it hard to take them seriously at all.
