City Council ‘not a good place to work these days,’ Tunney says of mass exodus

Five-term Ald. Tom Tunney (44th), chairman of the Zoning Committee, told the Sun-Times he plans to take some time during the council’s August recess before deciding whether to call it quits — or even run for mayor.

They really need to fix it so Aldermen are no longer mini-mayors and instead focus exclusively on legislation — make the job part time again. No more corrupt “Ward Services” candidates that ice-out their community’s undesirables

Tunney is so obnoxious. “I don’t want to overstay” yet he’s been in office for 20 years.

We need to ditch the "strong mayor"/"mini-mayor" system.

Fewer aldermen and remove the mayor from the council. Get rid of "aldermanic prerogative" and get more direct community input. Make services more accessible instead of people always asking the ward boss for help.

Good let him leave. He opposes a Lakeview dog park because his rich friends who donate to his campaign doesn't want it.

Lakeview residents are putting it for a vote now because he has constantly stop listening to the neighborhood and is in the pockets of a few rich people who live on N lakeshore drive west.

Good riddance
