Aldermen to weigh $25.9 million in settlements over four Chicago Police misconduct lawsuits

The largest settlement is a $15 million payment to the family of an innocent woman who was killed during a high-speed police chase in 2020.

It’s so insane that damages from police misconduct lawsuits come from the General Fund rather than the police budget.

They need to carry their own liability insurance, and they would think twice about their actions.

This is why we need to convert to the metric system. It's too complex to weigh our money. In England and the UK if you need to weigh £25.9 million pounds you know it's 25.9 million pounds

Jokes aside: what a terrifying article. Cops are no better than animals

Just take it from the pension of the officers and in general and call it 26 mil paid off from the underfunded pension account. If the cops gripe remind them this is what happens when you do bad things. Fuck the union make them carry insurance.
