Indiana dunes beaches closed due to apparent oil sheen on Lake Michigan near Portage steel plant
For the second time in two weeks, beaches at the Indiana Dunes National Park were closed because of something in the water.
FFS. I get Indiana is all pro-business and shit, but can they at least stop the plant from turning the great lakes into the a superfund site?
Fuck these businesses and fuck everyone complicit in putting short-term business profits over our environment.
Fuck you Indiana you stupid fucks! God damn...have you ever seen the pictures where they completely destroyed a giant sand dune and sold it? Like it was apparently the best part of the dunes. They're fucking morons! The only reason there is *anything* nice in Indiana is because people from Chicago took big chunks of Indiana away from them before they completely shit their own beds and ours.
Is there anything the average Great Lakes enjoyer can do to like…. stop this from happening? It’s very depressing and I have no idea how to help :(
Rollbacks in EPA regulations were put in place by the last regime in efforts to open up more jobs.
Wonder why the “move to indiana” people aren’t commenting on this….
I think that fines aren’t getting the point across and it’s time to change the penalties and shut them down for a few weeks when this shit happens. I’d bet that things would occur a lot less when production takes a hit and these incidents wouldn’t occur 3 times a year then.
So pence made that a national park. Does that now put these shit bag polluters on the hook for major federal crimes?
Let’s annex Indiana’s shoreline. Surely we have the gang power to do so
Ugh, I’m in SoCal and trying to grasp the oil spill here. Donated and submitted an application to volunteer. Horrible. Heading to Chicago in a few weeks and I see this an pissed off again. When does it fucking end with this shit?
