A 14-year-old girl was killed Thursday when police shot and killed a man suspected in an attack at a Burlington store in North Hollywood.

LAPD committed murder for the holidays. Where’s the protect and serve in that? Police are out of control (again). 😢

What had the now dead suspect been alleged to have done that would justify a policeman firing a weapon inside a department store? Particularly during the holiday shopping days?

no one had a gun and no one was killed until the cops showed up

Epic moment when cops respond to an assault and shoot three people "Hey guys what if we came and made the situation significantly worse for apparently no reason"

A cop pointed a gun, pulled the trigger, and killed a 14 year old girl. The cop murdered a teen girl. Can we please get the biggest news organization on the west coast to actually fucking inform its readers about how the state-funded standing army constantly murders innocent ppl?

Thank you for the belated attempt at journalism after we made you do it.

What a tragedy. This would never happen in my country (The Netherlands). Cause here almost nobody carries a gun. Therefore police almost never has to draw theirs. Let alone schoot inside a store.

Thanks for updating, but we've had this conversation with the LA Times a dozen times. You amd your reporters promise to do better, and then continue to use cop PR talk until you get yelled at. Get a style guide!

Stop getting your articles straight from @LAPDHQ and do some actual journalism…

Your outlet has great potential to help hold the LAPD accountable. Too often your reporting uncritically presents their version of events despite a known track record of lies. Please bring the due diligence to everyday coverage!

You're leaving out that the only person with a gun in the situation was the cop.

"Killed by an LAPD bullet" still isn't it. How did the bullet do that?

can someone explain what the point of having cops is?

Chief says the officer would not have known someone was behind the wall. That’s why you take into account the big picture. You’re responsible for every round you shoot! 14 years old!😣

Was someone in grave danger to warrant firing a weapon inside a store? And if so, why wasn't the public notified and moved to safety first? How is this an appropriate response to the situation? When will you charge that officer with murder?

It’s unconscionable that you used passive language to begin with. LA media outlets are 100% culpable in the unchecked violence that @lapdhq and @LAPDHQ have been allowed to commit with no oversight.

Am I being too Strunk and White about this, or is the amended headline still in the passive voice?

For the record: You always do this every time it happens. Maybe it's not a mistake and you're just gaslighting all of us.

Jesus. This is what happens when @LAPDHQ solves every problem with guns.
Innocent civilians are the most endangered by Police.
#PoliceBrutality #PoliceReform

Guess the LAPD skips the part of every gun safety class where you're told to be aware of what's behind your target.

LAPD Chief Michel Moore said, "This is a devastating and tragic circumstance, and it occurred during the actions of one of our officers."
As if her death was unrelated and entirely coincidental.

Tbh this is the most direct headline I’ve seen on the subject so far

Has anyone asked why they didn't use Tasers or maybe rubber bullets? That would seem appropriate, logical even, especially inside a crowded store where they knew innocent people were sheltering in place... right?

We need to reimagine safety in our communities! That means critical investments in mental, behavioral, & rehabilitation healthcare. That means ending poverty & creating permanent affordable housing! More police are not making us safer, this colonist system is sacrificial!

A pack of rabid policemen kill an innocent 14 year old girl. The police were the only criminals on the scene in possession of firearms or actively using them.

Is that some kinda shoot 1st & maybe there won’t be questions later bc everyone will be dead?
I mean…

Third time's the charm for being honest about what happened, eh?
And yeah, a guy allegedly assaulted someone and then had the audacity to pick up a bike lock. He was executed by the cops (denied due process) and she was murdered.

Thanks, can you make sure to verify it with reliable sources, and not just print what the LAPD feeds you? You know, like real journalists.

Why in the world were they shooting in a crowded store, like it was a Lethal Weapon sequel?

This is horrible, @LAPDHQ should not be shooting into stores with shoppers. These poorly trained officers need to be held accountable. @LAPDHQ needs to stop making our city even more dangerous, time to take our civil rights and tax dollars back from these murderous thugs.

Do we know how many rounds LAPD shot? It’s just beyond reckless

You do it wrong literally every time. Maybe make a post-it for the break room?

"14-year-old girl in dressing room of Burlington fatally shot by LAPD"
The headline is still passive voice
Active voice would be:
"LAPD fatally shot 14-year-old girl in dressing room of Burlington"

Will reserve judgement until we can get more information. I'm go to need to see the video because you can't believe anything coming from the cops.

Better late than- actually no, no you should have known better it’s practically 2022 ffs. https://t.co/Rsxh27fKEX

No need to be passive aggressive just because you were bullied into doing your job

How come it took you 3 tries to be accurate?

I guess caping for the cops is a hard habit for y’all to break

The Democrats are giving more and more money to "law enforcement" agencies yet we aren't any safer! So the alleged assailant was allegedly holding a bike chain & that warranted the police shooting into a busy store during the holidays??? We can't reform this, we must divest! https://t.co/ujy9XqUDgZ

@latimes, the article’s 1st sentence should be:
“An LAPD officer killed an innocent teenage girl at a Burlington clothing store.”
All the nonsense before & after your whitewashed description of what happened is a bogus attempt to exculpate police. Be journalists, not lapdogs.
