Democrats propose California universal healthcare, funded by new income, business taxes

A proposal to bring universal healthcare to California, laid out in multiple pieces of legislation, faces significant hurdles in the coming months.

Love it. Especially for those of us with chronic illness or disabilities who go without care all the time.

Please use my taxes for this. Tired of insurance companies, just let me get checked out before shit gets bad health wise.

I hope this catches on. It’s what this country needs.

this would save companies billions if they didnt need to provide health ins, not just cost, but administration. very attractive to new business.
#California #SinglePayer

Go on over and take a look at the VA healthcare system and get back to us on how government ran healthcare works out in the real world. Prepare to wait, and wait, and wait. It took them 2 years for them to call me back with a primary care doctor 45 miles away. 😕

Good. California needs to create its own infrastructure for when the federal government collapses

It’s the successful brainwashing of US citizens by health insurance conglomerates over many years that has produced these idiots who are saying single payer is worse than the current system. Bottom line: Everyone would save money except the insurance company. Love capitalism?🤷🏻♂️

This will attract the sick and uninsured. And eventually the federal taxpayer will bail them out.

This is how the rural province of Sasketchewan accomplished the same thing--and pulled other provinces and the Canadian federal government into following their lead. https://t.co/uvmSmO1CPd

This is not going to pass. If it did, California would get a flood of people from other states.
Universal healthcare needs to be done at the national level.

Good luck, California!!!!
I want universal healthcare for every American.

So does this mean that working class people will be taxed even more than they already are while the richest have their costs lowered even more? That's my understanding of this bill if every resident will receive these benefits.

Oh boy! More taxes!! This will go great with the crap economy and overwhelmed healthcare system!

Sounds great, but individuals are taxed higher here than almost any other state. Corporate tax reforms / increases are needed, but the dilemma is then companies run to other states. California is doing horribly in education, infrastructure, homelessness (etc). First things first?

In Washington, The Whole Washington Health Trust (as described in Initiative 1362 and Senate Bill 5204) would establish the first state-wide, publicly financed, not for profit, healthcare system in the U.S.

Lmfao, wait until all the rich people move to FL or TX and then you have massive expenses with no one to cover them

Oh, good. Let's have universal health insurance and then deny care to those who help pay for it if they don't obey government mandates. Sounds fun!

Ya because right now what we need is higher taxes in the state with the highest taxes.

I can’t even fathom having a consistent policy. That would be amazing.

Geez. We're already losing hundreds of businesses and hundreds of thousands of people fleeing the tax heavy state. Gas is at $5 per gallon in the winter time. Probably hit $6 this summer. Crazy.

Run every hard working person out of the state to Texas or Florida
