Well, he's going to have a home now. But his new home is prison.

That answers the question - Is the beach safe at night?

Why can’t they just call these guys vagrants rather than homeless? Conflating terms isn’t useful for anyone. People battling unemployment or underemployment, unable to find affordable housing: homeless (or unhoused if you prefer). People living on the beach because of inability or unwillingness to function normally: vagrants.

Homeless people aren’t going out there randomly assaulting or killing people. We have a problem with vagrants doing this, and nobody wants to admit it because it sounds like an indictment against all homeless people.

The loonies have free rein in Venice but SM is generally more active in keeping them in check.

Man, LA is heaven for homeless people that like stabbing. So many easy victims outside living their life, mixed with a nice big vocal chunk of population that sympathizes for shitty unhoused assholes.

And there was a rape at Reed park the same week. I used to take my child to Reed for basketball classes. But I couldn't do it anymore. It is so unsafe. I think a priest was attacked and an elderly man was killed by homeless men there at Reed, about the year I decided to stop taking my child there

And nothing will be done. Criticize the homeless and you'll be deemed ignorant and heartless. At least that's how I feel about the homeless problem in LA. From the nurse being stabbed to death at Union Station to the one UCLA student killed in the furniture shop she was working at in Hancock Park.

Every time I see these unprovoked assaults on ordinary citizens i lose my compassion for the homeless more and more.

Homeless people have to be picking on people they find to be easy targets or smaller people or the elderly.

Rarely will you hear a 6' + man get on the news of being attacked by a bum. Not saying it can't or hasn't happened but that's my assumption tbh

I don’t know man. It’s a crazy. A break down in this society. Every policy, measure…all those fancy “help the homeless,” “compassion for the homeless,” “move people off the streets” gimmicks are not working. It’s not getting results.

Fuck. The homeless problem is growing and spreading all over LA. And nothing is working.

I had a weird incident a couple weeks ago right across from the Sta Monica Pier. 12 pm walking with some friends. 2 homeless women talking in the corner (by that little park). We pass them and one immediately leaves her friend and starts walking next to me. Super close, not saying a word. I’m like wtf and I turn and stare at her hard while still walking. Not a word, looking weirdly my way but down. I abruptly moved away from her so she did the same thing to my friend walking behind me (we were a group of 5 women). Then finally the homeless woman fell behind and left. I had my mace ready. This was in broad daylight, with tons of people around. This is the scariest thing. Crazy/high people don’t care who you are, what time of the day it is, who you’re with. I walk around Sta Monica constantly assessing every homeless person. I’ve always been vigilant but this is out of control. :((
