LAPD: No evidence that man busted with cache of weapons, ammo in Hollywood was plotting mass shooting

LAPD appears to change their tune on the man accused of making threats in his Hollywood high-rise apartment: Police revealed there were no hard evidence hinting Braxton Johnson was plotting a mass shooting.

Someone better tell the media, because every newscast said LAPD prevented a mass shooting by arresting this guy.

And how did this clown from Indiana afford the apartment?

He may not have been plotting a mass shooting (thankfully) but it still seems it was a bit of a concerning situation in that:
“the 25-year-old suspect had allegedly suffered a mental health crisis.”
“One neighbor said Johnson had mentioned he had a military background and that Johnson believed the CIA was after him.”
“[His] apartment had large windows with a non-obstructed view of the Gordon Street Park downstairs, and some of the rifles were pointed down, outside the windows”
“All the guns were unregistered.”
None of these factors sound like a particularly great combo to have together….

Considering that LAPD had zero stabilizing devices on display and that the angle of attack from that guy's window to the park is somewhere around 28-32°, it's rather far fetched to assume that guy was just about to unload his 1000 rounds from his gucci gear without any braces to work with.
The guy seemed like a headcase regardless, but at the very least, he has some knowledge to pick the proper gear for long range distance shooting. Skipping this fundamental step makes no sense for all of this speculation behind the planning. Maybe the court docs will provide a better inventory list, but that's a stretch wider than goatse.

It’s a bit of a jump to conclusions that he was planning a massacre. And the LAPD manufacturing some good press for themselves.
It’s so weird that so many journalists don’t ask questions and just regurgitate police talking points. They’re sacrificing accountability for accessibility.
I used to be a writer for the LA Times

I guess this is where there are helicopters everywhere around the building all of a sudden. Fucking annoying.
