When it takes 2+ years to get a call back for the job, take a hint.

Love to see this weak man not have any power ever. Literal definition of a seat warmer

Don’t disagree. Weird article though, ‘bare bones’ barely describes it.

You all read the “article,” right? It gives zero actual reasons for why this guy said what he said. Way to go, ABC7…

The role of mayor is largely a ceremonial figurehead. And he failed spectacularly at it.

Who in their right mind could look at this man's work in LA and think he deserves more responsibility.

You are all making me sad. What are you reacting to? There's literally no useful information in the "article". Everyone is using this space to make vague complaints about the city and pile on Garcetti, but there's nothing here. ABC7 tried to make something out of nothing because they can sell ads on the page. Why are you all doing it?

For those unaware, it really centers on the heinous shit his chief of staff did to employees, and nothing was done. Garcetti was aware and joke about his behavior. The concern is that if he cant handle the mayor's office, there is no way he could manage a staff for the ambassadorship of about 2000. It has nothing to do with policy.

This isn't news. "Ex-Aide" shoulda had the balls to say something when it mattered.

From an Indian viewpoint, the US has lacked an ambassador in India for over two years at this point - while the Russians and others have used that lack of an American counterpoint to solidify a positive public opinion here amongst ordinary Indians.

You badly need an ambassador in New Delhi to counter that diplomatically, and they need to be competent and connected. But from what I'm reading here, it seems like Garcetti may not be that person?

With the job he did handling the homeless, I think he can’t be an ambassador for any country

Jesus Christ, this thread.

Listen here, you people, I’m not going to sit here and defend Eric Garcetti…

I imagine him as the congressman from Parks and Rec that Ben worked for who goes into his office and completely shuts off in between meetings and appearances.

This guy knew Covid was a thing in February 2020 and still let the Marathon go on March 8, 2020. ‘But Covid doesn’t transmit outdoors,’ you might say - oh but what about all the hotels all those runners had to stay in. Unsurprising we had to shut down just days later. And don’t forget his awarding a valuable testing contract to his buddies at Curativewith frequent false negatives. He should be tried for crimes, not awarded in any way.
