Massive three-day LAUSD teacher and staff strike set for Tuesday, closing all schools

The planned three-day walkout by support staff and teachers in L.A. Unified would shut down schools. Supt. Alberto Carvalho said he is prepared to bargain around the clock.

This is sad….. they have to strike for near poverty wages.
contract demands in total would increase his members’ average salary from $25,000 to $36,000.

Without support staff, schools would fall apart at the seams before nutrition. They are vital to a school’s existence and deserve to be compensated.

I’m sticking with the union - hope they get what they’re bargaining for.

I’ve been getting the current superintendent’s propaganda emails and voicemails all week. It’s disgusting.

Summary: The SEIU and UTLA unions plan to strike for three days starting on Tuesday 3-21-2023, if LAUSD won't meet their demands. Superintendent Carvalho and LAUSD have not met SEIU's salary increase demands. SEIU wants a 30% salary increase across the board, while UTLA wants 20% salary increase. Carvalho said if the strike were to happen, the schools will close.
I don't know much about SEIU employee work conditions. But, I KNOW that Teachers have EXTREMELY difficult working conditions.

Fuck yeah. I support the the teachers union and hopefully they get what they deserve!

As a former LAUSD educator, I firmly stand with the unions. Is there anywhere to donate to support educators who will not get paid during the strike? If y’all are successful in getting the 20% raise, I might just go back to teaching!

I’m going to Mexico City for a few a time if this goes down.
This will be my second strike.
Just PAY teachers and support staff actual dollars.

At least I know the traffic will be light those days
