Learn French in 6 months? Quebec-commissioned report shows why that's nearly impossible
A report commissioned by the Quebec government — and then kept hidden — lays out in detail why many newcomers are likely to require more than six months to learn French, contrary to new rules put forward in the province's updated language law.
"... said she is hopeful that whoever wins the next election will be 'flexible and understanding' in their application of the law" I like how she low-key asks us to vote them out. Please, everyone, vote the nationalist zealots out, it's getting regressive and sinister here in QC.
I grew up here in Quebec coming from the U.K. at 3 years old. I was taught France-French in school, textbooks, grammar, teacher etc. It took me about almost 10 years to understand what people were saying here what with the dialect & slang used. Today some call it 'Franglais'.
