Anger, political pushback in Quebec after Legault says cultures are 'not on the same level'

Those who know the debate most intimately said there's little nuance to be found in Quebec Premier Legault's arguments about Quebec's immigration model. 'Every time it's as painful as it is the first time,' said a spokesperson for a Sikh group.

Why the surprise? he said what's been the case since I first lived in Quebec as a child in the 70s. Maybe Montreal should separate from Quebec and live free from discrimibation, be a city state like the Vatican. Give them a taste of their own nonsense #ottnews

The sentiment echoed by Francois Legault about not all cultures being on the same level was very prevalent from the 50's through to the 70's & beyond. Apparently it still exists today. Quebec is a "Hot Spot" of racism on the Planet. Not much has changed since June 1957. https://t.co/IglgU04CYd

you see how people are reacting! I hope you work on a report and let people know if there is legal way for Montreal to seperate from Quebec!

Its such a “supremist” and a “backward” way of thinking to put cultures into tiers & guage by level or any means of measure. Multiculturism is not the enemy of Quebec but the threatened stance of its leaders hindering it further to evolve whilst fostering its true identity 🇨🇦

He is a fringe minority on this one... Multiculturalism is what makes QC a QUEBEC

He first has to acknowledge the existence of another culture in Quebec to even put it on a level. To Legault, there is only one culture, the French culture, nothing else matters. They aren’t on a different level they aren’t even considered.

We can change this...this old Quebecoise mind set if your not white French your not the right French. We all live together all nationality, all languages and we should all live in piece. This is the 21 century we should be well ahead of all this Bigotry.

M. Legault et sa gang de xénophobes are saying the quiet part out loud... ils sont vraiment pas capable de se retenir.

Make Montreal part of Ontario. Problem solved.
We are too cool for this shitty province and it's racist agenda.
|The moment we become "Montreal, Ontario", the Canadian dollar will go up, tourist will boom and it will be the end of the Dinosaur Era that will lived in
