Montreal Pride organizer says parade was cancelled because hiring staff was 'never done'

The executive director of Montreal Pride said the lack of security staff that forced the last-minute cancellation of Sunday's parade boils down to an oversight: People needed to be hired and they never were.

Mayor literally said she would of been willing to provide whatever funding was needed to properly organise the even, no one was made aware of the situation and lack of staff.
Who ever was in charge of organizing the parade should be held accountable, not police or anyone else.
City would of done what was needed as it is a popular event but nobody spoke up.

"hey did anybody remember to hire security staff?"

"damn I wish I hadn't waited to ask until the morning of the event.."

This still doesn't add up, leading up to a parade/event of this size there are multiple meetings and check ins that would have flagged this supposed "hired but unassigned staff situation". You go over the route with SPVM, detail how many people would be working and control points, where paramedics would be stationed, the people to contact etc etc. You have a briefing meeting for all the hired/volunteer staff in the days prior. For it to only become apparent at 8am the morning of you either had no one doing that job or the most incompetent buffoon in charge or the parade portion.

lol what the fuck.

I didn't know it could be possible to be this incompetent. Gamache needs to step down ASAP.

If the organizer is reading this. You failed us. Step down.

At some point along the line someone sent an email at 3pm on a Friday and shit went off the rails from there.

It's funny how when I heard about this I said that we shouldn't be so quick to blame the police. Then i was called out for defending the police. They were just the messenger confirming that there weren't enough security but then were blamed completely. A real shoot the mesenger moment.
All being said, i normally don't like the police, but the hate they get for doing their job is sad. Especially in this case, uninformed people just jumped on blaming them.

That gentleman, Gamache, should resign. How an executive director could forget to hire staff... Especially during all those planification prior the day of event.
And none of the others managers didn't light out the problem?
I guess, the new director thought he will be able to surf past organisation success.

Was the most basic of project management software unavailable to the person responsible? How about a 'white board' & dry erase markers? One with a list of things one requires to do a parade and perhaps a box to check next to same, or failing that, crossing out the items on the list that have been completed. I don't know, I didn't go a fancy university like McGill, I went to Concordia with its 'real education for the real world'.

Hahahahahah
Je suis du bord "Not my monkeys, not my circus", mais crisse, c'est tellement n'importe quoi.
Com'on. XD

With their budget they should of just subcontracted the security out and not have to worry about the hiring.

Reminds me of the documentary I watched called Woodstock 99 lol
