The only grocery store in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue is permanently closed as of Saturday evening and employees and residents are left wondering what happened.

Sainte Anne de Bellevue is stuck with a mayor who is hostile to development, therefore why the community has been stuck with only a small grocery store and some bars along the waterfront. Any previous attempts at diversification have been met by hostility by members of City Council.

I feel bad for the seniors in the community, first and foremost. Hopefully another grocery store chain will take its place.

c'est poche.

probablement que les gens y allaient pas et préféraient aller dans une plus grosse enseigne (le Maxi ou le Métro à l'ile Perrot)

Man, Ste Annes seems to be in a continual downward spiral. So many places closing. 20 years ago it was a vibrant area with some great restos.

Also, the next nearest grocery in Baie-D'Urfe will be closed for several months as the franchised Provigo is sold back to corporate and turned into a Maxi.

There will be an effective grocery desert past St-Charles Boul on the west island.

I remember when the Mcdonald's closed in St-anne de bellevue almost 20 years ago. There was also a pizza shop that did a nice NY style pizza next to the tattoo place.

Not a big loss tbh: most students staying at MAC would go either to Provigo in Baie D'Urfé (shout-out to these guys btw for sponsoring students events over the years, back in the days!) or in Ile Perrot / Pincourt where you have half a dozen options (IGA, Maxi, 2x Metro+, local farmers' market). Also you technically have the "MAC Market" and the farmers's market (Marché St-Annes) in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, so it's not like it's a food desert or anything like that.

Personally, I think I only went to this grocery store twice in 6 years.
