Some Montreal tenants are being evicted so their apartments can be turned into tourist rentals. Turns out that's legal

"In 2001, when Raymond moved in, rent for the 6 ½ room apartment was $525 per month." Jesus Christ. I knew it was bad but have rates really like, tripled/quadrupled in the past 20 years?

The landlord clearly has $ _ $ in his pupils

Hey Montrealers, what should we do? I'm 100% down to sign, write, lobby, anything to prevent this shit from occurring. Montreal has hotels for tourists, we don't need to ruin our lovely neighborhoods for the sake of a few greedy property owners. Let's hear some ideas!

Plante doesn't give two shits, fuck her. We need better mayors.
And fuck Legault. I'm sure he hopes that the whole island just turns into one big hotel, he doesn't give two shits about this city.
