On Politics: How will Bill de Blasio go down in history? on Apple Podcasts

After eight years in office, Mayor de Blasio is getting ready to say goodbye to City Hall in just a few days. NY1’s Zack Fink, Gloria Pazmino and Juan Manuel Benítez spend some time evaluating the legacy of a man who was often much less popular than his policies. They also look ahead to the...

Large growth in homeless and crime and significant deterioration in safety in Manhattan for tourists and residents.... History will not be kind to de Blasio

Aside from preK his actions never rose to the urgency of his rhetoric. If climate change is a 5 alarm fire, why do you expand the city’s fleet and give away tens of thousands of placards and not expand busways/real protected bike lanes

In a remarkable feat he has somehow united most NYers, regardless of political and/or ideological differences, in their disdain for his performance as mayor 🤝✨

Benefitted from Governor Cuomo and threw him under the bus; if it weren't for the Governor NY would've never gotten Covid under control. Lets not even get into his own bullying of his staff and numerous resignations. I won't miss him.

I want live in the New York that he portrays in his live broadcasts every weekday morning, because the man certainly doesn’t live in the same New York that I see around me.

Vision Zero is a disaster. Not only record high fatalities, the overgroomed streets seem designed by meth addicts. No one is happy. Not bike riders, not pedestrians, not car owners & not home owners. Gridlock where there never where any. Delivery trucks everywhere, prking removed

Mayors should walk the streets more & to borrow a phrase, pretend it’s a city. From photo op shoveling his single family home driveway, to car commuting to a gym, he never really gave the impression that he wanted to experience the city as a city. He is after all from CT & MA.

Groundhog murderer who ate pizza with a knife and fork, supported the wrong baseball team, and succeeded in looking like he was trying to take a massive dump the whole way through every presidential debate. Also literally aided the Sandinistas back in the day. AKA total douche.

There are literally 0 New Yorkers that think he did a good job here. Literally the bike and bus lane people nor the car people. The real New Yorkers nor the gentrifiers. The ones who live in good neighborhoods nor the ones who live in bad ones. We all agree he was horrible.

He's/was remarkably bad at advocating for public transit. He doesn't consider it & was never a priority. Hence the reason why transit Twitter calls him BilldeBusIsSlow. I will be a little sad to retire BilldeBusIsSlow but I'm glad BilldeBusIsSlow will no longer be mayor.

Is leaving the city in a terrible state. Mentally ill roaming the streets, homelessness, crime out of control. Made poor neighborhoods in far less safe than they were. Honestly the worst mayor in my lifetime. He takes NYers to be idiots, by thinking about running for Governor!

I remember him trying to do his own thing during COVID just to spite Cuomo. All he really did was make himself look like an idiot, confusing a lot of parents with school aged kids in the process.
