MTA Chairman: "I'd like to thank the Government for this generous five billion dollar grant."

Reporter: "Five? Aren't you missing one billion?"

MTA Chairman: "Thank you for the correction. One billion dollar grant."

Getting more money without addressing the underlying cost issues due to horrible contracts and managers / government that perpetuates fraud is a foolish thing. I've even got a clip I sent a local of a local MTA contractor shouting slurs when working and the MTA inspector General never responded except saying they saw the video and would not create a case.

Money will be dumped down the drain in no time flat. Stolen overtime and sweetheart deals for worthless LCD screens.

Thats amazing for all the fat cats of the mta. They get 5.75 billion dollar raise while the public gets .25 billion in artwork for the trains

Thank goodness! The subway is the circulatory system for the city, like it or hate it! I happen to prioritize commuting via bike, but will always take a train or bus over a private car!

they are going to use the money to it's full potential by adding one more chair on some arbitrary train station

Money that will totally not end up down the corrupt MTA and MTA Union rat hole I'm sure! At the rate they spend, it will cover the cost of 100 feet of track.

Will there be transparency in regards to where all that money will be going?

Let's see how much actually goes into MTA projects and not MTA owner's off shore bank accounts.
