Changes At Texas DMV Could Lead to Fewer Temporary Texas Paper Plates in NY
At an emergency meeting last month, the board that oversees the Texas DMV ordered the agency to immediately suspend the license of dealers suspected of selling...
Forget Paper plates. Recently I’ve seen so many cars with no plates at all.
“Last May, three people were charged with a nationwide scheme to sell these fake license plates - one of them a Houston resident. The trio were accused of using fake car dealerships to issue nearly 600,000 automobile paper tags and sell them on the internet without selling any cars. If convicted, each faces up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines.”
I’m honestly surprised. I figured it was like Delaware corps and they were just being lax for tax / revenue reasons.
The article talks about all the supposed "enforcement" going on in NY lololol. Why bother getting paper plates from Texas when there's a perfectly good printer at your local library?
There are 50 states in this country and I’m sure at least one has even easier tags to fake.
If NYPD won’t actually do the leg work to impound these vehicles and punish the offenders, this will be a permanent problem. Too bad the biggest offenders of this fraud are cops & city workers themselves.
