Lee Zeldin’s law & order blueprint: I’m gonna fire DA Bragg on Day 1

On Day one as New York’s next governor in January, I will do what Kathy Hochul lacks the courage to do, and I will fire Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, vows gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin.

Thanks. I might have voted for Lee Zeldin if I thought he might focus on governing. Instead I see that he’s interested in just raising his own profile in the culture wars, like the rest of the Republican Party. Now I know not to vote for him.

He doesn't really back up anything he said with any statistics or facts.

Since Zeldin is pro-law & order, maybe he could explain why he's also pro-Jan 6 insurrectionists?

Regardless of who is governor, DA Bragg needs to go.

Firing Bragg has been a campaign rallying cry for Tom Suozzi (D) as well.

I have made it known that I think Bragg sucks, but I feel like the onus is on voters to remove him via the 2025 primary.

Ultimately, Bragg was voted in by the people and it is up to the people to oust him. Bragg gets a lot of attention given his jurisdiction, but this is a local matter and it is up to local voters to keep him or vote him out.

Also, the authority for the governor to remove a D.A. doesn't mean he or she can just fire Bragg with a phone call. There are specific conditions where removal is warranted and a very specific bureaucratic process involved.

So any candidate who bangs their hand about "firing" Bragg is just blowing smoke.

He can say he’ll do whatever he wants on his first day in office since he’s not going to have a first day in office.

Before I even listen to this guy, he has to answer one question. Who legitimately won the 2020 presidential election. If he can’t say Joe Biden without hesitation or hedging - he’s a partisan hack and has no business running for governor. That’s before we even get to the policy issues where Dems and Repubs generally disagree.
