All 41 Broadway theaters will drop their mask mandates on July 1 and stay “mask optional” through July 31, the Broadway League said Tuesday.

Seems fair. We have safe, effective vaccines and boosters, and you’re still able to wear a mask if you’re more comfortable with that. If you’re very high risk or worried about COVID even with all that, maybe going to a crowded theater sitting in close proximity with others wouldn’t be the best idea, mask mandate or not.

seems like the theatre community feels quite different than a lot of commenters here

It’s just hard for me to support because Covid is still such an ongoing issue for theatre performers. It hardly seems like we’re going a week without performers being out.

Hugh Jackson is out of the music man this week for Covid and one of the little shop performers just announced they have Covid and will be out.

It’s probably time. And of course people are still encouraged to wear masks if they feel safer that way.

Also sounds like it will be a month to month decision, so could bring back masks if there is a Covid surge.

Airlines are cancelling thousands of flights and shows are using their 2nd and 3rd tier performers all because of Covid infections, but sure let's get more people infected.
