Wait their argument is that the number of crimes on the subway is the same therefore it’s okay?

If the number of crimes is the same and ridership is 60% of 2019, that would make the chance of being victimized 67% higher per ride than 2019.

This constant minimization of petty crime and lawlessness that many different groups/races/people experience on a daily basis will eventually backfire.

You can only say “it’s actually not that bad” for so long.
