Adams is a Democrat because he wasn’t going to get elected in his district, Brooklyn, or the City as a Republican. I don’t think he personally cares much about the party or the platform. If Eric Adams was born and ran in a Republican stronghold, he’d be a solid Republican. The party and policies are just ways for Eric Adams to get power. I this his personal views are extreme cynicism about government, and that he views politics as just a way to enrich himself, friends, and family.

Adams isn’t bothered because he can not do the job he was elected for either way. Having a Republican take the heat for his incompetence is convenient, actually.

I'm begging this city to learn wtf a primary election is and show up to one. We could've avoided Adams and Hochul.

Because Eric Adams is a republican and Democrats voted for him anyway.

I get that everyone on Reddit hates Adams but this article read like total horse shit. It’s all a bunch of “City Hall insiders” whispering assumptions about the Mayor and City Council Members. The only direct attributable quotes in the article are from Lee Zeldin himself.

So basically the Post thought they could hurt Brooklyn turnout with this story, conjures up an insider and pretended to have heard this from them, and published the story.

For everyone shitting on Adams, keep in mind that he won the primary in the poorest and most marginalized districts, many that are primarily PoC. Clearly his messaging resonated where the more progressive candidates could not. Probably not the best idea to virtue signal and downplay the votes and wants of these communities. Many of which you pretend to champion for.
