So 0.079%? Im no mathematician but reads like a W to me… how many people still get sick from the flu who get a shot every year?

News editors who have no basic knowledge of statistics should not be allowed to release these headlines. The headline tries to grab attention by showing how "low" this is as a proportion of 11M. 11,000,000 is the number of vaccinated, not the number of vaccinated who have been tested since vaccination. Dividing 8,700/11,000,000 in this case means absolutely nothing.

"8.7K of 11M Vaccinated People Test Positive for COVID-19 in New York"

This is the most dishonest way of framing results that I've ever seen lmao. The only way this statistic makes sense is if you take 11 million vaccinated people, expose them to COVID and then say 8.7K people got infected. This statistic posed in the title literally makes no sense and holds no value

Definitely more than that number considering how less people are getting tested these days

THat's even better than the 95% efficacy than advertised!

This is excellent news.

It really is glorious to see that panic is not taking hold, despite the best efforts of media outlets, hysterical nutritionists like Eric Fiegl-Ding, and the remaining Redditors who want to see masks and restrictions return.

The science won. The vaccines are the way out of this. And we're way, way past the worst of the pandemic in high-vax US states.
