Squaw Valley Ski Resort Changes Name to Palisades Tahoe
Squaw Valley Ski Resort has a new name: Palisades Tahoe. On Monday, the popular Lake Tahoe ski resort – site of the 1960 Winter Olympics – retired the decades-old "squaw" name because it is regarded as a derogatory term for Native American women. ...
Long overdue to change this name. The Washoe Tribe of Nevada & California have been attempting to do so since the 1990s. No reason to be stuck in the 1890s with a name.
Happy to see Palisades Tahoe also promising more initiatives that will help us all learn more Washoe history.
Very glad to see this name change. It shows that when we know better, we can do better.
