Oh for f…sake. Just build a connection to existing subway. Why does every transpiration project in the city take decades and billions….
Someone should print out part of a subway map that shows the N extended to LGA and mail it to Hochul, MTA, Port Authority, etc. Maybe post it outside the offices too.
98% of New Yorkers: Just fucking extend the subway to LGA
New York State leadership: I don't know what we'll do now we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas I guess we'll have to explore crazy alternative solutions this is highly inconvenient our hands are tied.
Plans for the AirTrain connected with public transportation at Willets Point in Queens, which would have allowed travelers to get to the airport from Midtown, Manhattan, in under 30 minutes.
This is a load of crap. I live 1 stop away from the 7 in Queens and it takes me 30 minutes+ to get to Willets Point.
Good. No more stupid people movers, extend the subway direct to the airport. If Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, DC, Miami, Minneapolis, Cleveland, St Louis, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Dallas, Denver, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and soon Austin & Honolulu, NYC can do it too.
Just extend the N/W already you cowards, easiest and most affordable way to connect LGA to the rest of the city.
This just means nothing is going to actually get done.
And maybe that is better than a bad option… but they’ve been down this same road for years.
There’s nothing new she’s going to be told here. She knows the options already. This is just a way to cancel the cuomo plan and let this wither for a few more years
The development of a major transit hub in the Bronx and the expansion of LGA (all facilitated by closing and repurposing Rikers Island) has always seemed to me to be the best, most viable and forward looking proposal.
How about bus rapid transit? Shouldn’t cost a fortune, and will introduce the idea that buses can be nice to many people.
I am very happy about this. The ferry is a good option. All you have to do it build a dock and an access point to the airport. Also extend the subway, etc. This was just stupid routing people away from the airport.
isn’t the quick, cheap and efficient answer here just a protected/dedicated bus lane running from 74th/Broadway?
Honestly US cities need to look to Shanghai and Hong Kong. Create a high speed high capacity train from the airport to grand central with a max of two stops along the way.
I have the perfect of idea. Why don't we shoot people out of cannons strategically based within each ~~borrow~~ borough? Oh, heres another great one. Ready? Tubes... everywhere. Now I know what you're going to say, "Futurama did it", and you'd be right. Ok, what if we positioned an orbiting space city where people could live, and we'd call it New New York! Then, we have people take these "drop pods", like in Halo, down to the airport? I've got so many great ideas. Email me Hochul, I really think I'm onto some stuff.
