Thomas Jefferson Statue Removed From NYC Council Chamber; Next Stop: New York Historical Society
The statue was donated to the city in 1834. It was commissioned by a U.S. Navy commodore to honor Jefferson's commitment to religious freedom.
Don't we have actual problems that the city council should be working on?
You guys feel that? That feeling in the air? That’s right, no more racism!
Why not take down George Washington's statue while you're at it?
From the NYPost article:
Keri Butler, executive director of the Public Design Commission that voted to banish the statue, at first tried to block the press from witnessing its removal. Butler relented after members of the mayor’s office and City Council intervened.
The commission also attempted to vote on the statue’s removal without a public hearing on the controversial move until The Post revealed the plan.
"no, we won't come after other statues. Just Columbus. I mean, him, and any of the Civil War Traitors. Oh, and the fountain of Hercules. Thats it. we promise. There is no such thing as a 'slippery slope'!"
Maybe the US should also undo everything he did if he is such a monster? Return the US to Britain, it's rightful owner!
What’s next, remove Susan B Anthony statues because she made racist remarks?
Ya y’all we did it!!! Bunch of do nothing grifters running this city. Hopefully Adams whips them into shape.
