Opinion: Why won’t Chesa Boudin make S.F. crime data public?

My group Stop Crime SF received a nearly identical response from Boudin's office after our public records request. The existence of DA Stat should negate the need for journalists and groups like Stop Crime SF to file public records requests. This...

For those repeating the mantra that the dataset provided by the DA contains outcomes: it only contains a very small subset of all data the public has a right to access: TRIAL outcomes.

What about the 8000+ cases that were reduced, plead out, etc...? Public has right to know.

SF media has to ignore charging data, and call it out as misleading every time Boudin cites it. Boudin pleads everything down. There is effectively no penalty for committing crime in SF.

Joel's article is great! Come on Chesa! Tell us what actually happens with the cases you filed: sweet-heart plea bargains? Only 31 trials since you took office? what about the rest? How many were convicted of lesser charges, given only probation? What does "conviction" mean?

Accurate, all smoking mirrors by a defensive District Attorney’s Office. They are not for the people. They are for there socialist agenda.

He files, brags about it (remember “breaking news”?!😆🤦🏻‍♀️), and then never prosecutes. It’s his MO.

The Target girl who stole 120 times was released (AGAIN) and then stole AGAIN. Like how stupid is @chesaboudin? Seriously. That’s some serious incompetence.

This guy is under the impression that people who commit crimes that have a drug problem are not responsible for the harm they cause to their victims. He’s as unqualified for his position as Bill Barr and Jeff Sessions were for theirs.

I think your picture above is photoshopped. I don't think Chesa has ever been in a courtroom. He doesn't prosecute people. He let's them out and they go on to commit more crimes!
