SF police's 'Ice Cream with a Cop' event turned chaotic

A San Francisco "Ice Cream with a Cop" event sponsored by the San Francisco Police Department turned chaotic.

As someone who grew up in the Richmond, I rolled my eyes when he started calling it an "all white neighborhood.” He is not helping his cause by getting basic facts wrong.
Also, Joe’s Ice Cream is awesome 10/10 recommend.

I thought people wanted police to have more of a presence in the communities they’re working in and make better connections with the folks they’re serving. So they try a friendly ice cream event and now those same people are complaining about cops not working and wasted tax dollars. Pick a lane.

I would encourage folks to read through this guy's comments. His supporters rag on Asians. Just one example "yellow peril, kindly step up and collect your kinfolk"

What an ass. The fallacy of BLM is that all cops are bad. Those cops are just there for community relations.

Pretty shocked that the owners, who are Korean immigrants, were called white supremacists. The owners also kinda feel duped into doing something that would lead to controversy. Anyways, I'm visiting Joe's on Friday since the weather will be a nice 63 on Friday.

Many of us were at the BLM protests and want better and more compassionate policing for our POC communities. Unfortunately, people like "doggtowndro" only harm that.

Those cops handled the situation much better than I would. Nobody should have the right to harass people on the sidewalk with a bullhorn.

The bayarea thread blew up and their observations of our subreddit were interesting

Man, arent people allowed to enjoy an ice cream with their family no more? 💀 I guess thats his first amendment right

I can't believe we can't find anyone who wants to be a cop here. /S

Wow so fucking brave bullying a couple of immigrants
An immigrant couple coming to the US to run an ice cream shop is pretty much the least threatening thing I can think of.

Thing is, he probably convinced more people to side with the cops than anything they could do. If someone told me that he was being paid by the SFPD PR department, I'd think "yeah, checks out."

I'll be in SF on Saturday and will now be going to Joe's Ice-cream to lend my support. Btw, I'm a black woman against police brutality HOWEVER I am disgusted by how BLM folks handled this...
Frankly I would like to think most who support BLM wouldn't support what took place here and these are just horrible people whose actions don't represent what BLM SHOULD be about. Then again, with all the embezzlement by BLM, who even knows anymore? I still know Black Lives Matter but it seems corruption is everywhere, even in a group that seems to stand up against corruption

The majority of city believes crime is number one issue in upcoming elections, dean and others seem intent to belittle voters concern by portraying it as a result of police pr as opposed to a result of people experiencing and opposing crime. Do they not want police to be able to interact with the community? Do they want to control who interacts with press or social media? Their scapegoating and obsessing over tactics like pr is so offensive to me .
