SF Conservatory of Flowers prepares for rare corpse flower bloom
Inside the muggy West Gallery at the Conservatory of Flowers in San Francisco, an endangered plant standing 54 inches tall is just beginning to blush. Some visitors liken a corpse flower's natural musk to moldy cheese, sweaty gym socks or rotting...
you know, the last time this happened -- a few years ago -- I was kind of under the impression that it basically never happens, but apparently that's not the case? I feel like I got conned into standing in line when I could've just waited a bit and seen it without a crowd
regardless, I can vouch for the name of the flower; definitely smells like something formerly living that is now rotting
