People in SF do not follow the rules. I almost got hit today when a lady was driving almost 35 MPH blasting down Broderick through the STOP sign like it wasn't there

It’s insane lately. Ceasar Chavez is a race track to loose police and escape the city after side shows. Potrero is a free for all where people use the bus and bike lane to speed and pass to get to the freeway.
As a cyclist and a resident I’m so sick of it.

My family was nearly sideswiped by a driver yesterday--busted car body, distracted driver, with a 2020 registration sticker on their plate.
Throughout the City I've seen drivers speed, fail to yield to pedestrians, blow stop signs, cover their license plates, use expired paper plates, use tape to cover their licences, etc. Cars with coffee can mufflers roar through our street at all times of the day, paying no heed to the school near us.
We can have all the traffic calming measures and signs we want, but until the authorities enforce the law there's no incentive for criminals to stop breaking the law, endangering public safety, and taking innocent lives.

Too bad enforcing traffic laws is racist.
But surely some more no left turn signs, longer stoplight delays and fancy curbs will get us to "Zero Traffic Deaths by 2024" as we were promised.

Blows my mind that we still allow this and accept it as the norm everywhere. Eventually two things may happen:
Politicians will make owning a car in SF absolutely miserable (which is fine to me.)
Or automated vehicles will take over whenever you’re on the street and you will be driving at absolute minimum speeds. Vehicles without these features, will be banned from major cities.

I’ve almost been hit 3 times in the last two weeks in the sunset by people deciding stop signs don’t apply to them. It’s insane. Almost all people with huge SUVs and pickup trucks too.
And people drive even more stupid in the mission too for some reason. Every time I drive there my stress level goes up because of the amount of people honking and speeding past because I dare to do the speed limit and not murder pedestrians

I saw a dirt bike gang race right by a squad of 4 SFPD motorcycle cops waiting at the cross section light at King and 3rd. The cops turned their heads to watch the dirt bike wheelies and didn’t do anything else.
It was the perfect scenario for them to light up and pull over the unlicensed, wreckless dirt bike (and one quad) gang. SFPD is useless.

As someone mentioned in another thread, the city had tens of thousands of warriors fans in SF. From the comment I saw, it sounded like chaos Monday night on the roads as fans tried to get back to the east bay. This was at 4:30am so I wonder if it was a drunk driver who was partying all day and night.

How sad. So many wreckless drivers in the Mission these days, they know they can get away with it. Police never do anything. RIP neighbor. :(
