The numbers show that among cases with available data, 91.7% of all patients who’ve tested positive for monkeypox have been gay people and 5.6% have been bisexual; men account for more than 98% of all cases. Transgender and gender nonbinary people account for 1% of cases.

Is politicians going to put a mandate to having sex?

Isn't this how it's mostly transmitted?

And, Dore Alley is happening this weekend?

The numbers of infected people will explode by mid-August. This weekend is the Dore Alley Fair, which includes multiple club events - people packed in like sardines - some of these events have clothes checks and guys dance in their underpants. Which rhymes and not there's anything wrong with that, but if it is truly a state of emergency as SF declared, these club events (but perhaps not the street fair itself, where distancing is possible) should have been cancelled.

Men have traveled from all over the U.S. and overseas for this street fair and the all night parties. If you are on Scruff or any other gay social media you cannot help but notice the surge of out of town visitors this weekend, all looking to have a good time. Some of them are bringing monkeypox to SF. Others will take it home.

Vaccines are just part of the solution but every so-called "leader" is afraid to tell gay men to take a break or limit themselves to their primary partner for a few months.
