This is bothering me so much, both with my community as a gay man living in San Francisco and with the city government. San Francisco essentially destroyed it economy to save the lives of its citizens during the pandemic, a decision I supported, and wait out the spread of the disease until a vaccine was rolled out. A new disease pops up with which most people are at risk of exposure, specifically at the moment men who have sex with men, and this festival is allowed to continue.

This feels so much like seeing those puerto Vallarta gays in NYE 2020, people who had no problem shaming others for the pandemic and pretending to be good citizens only to be unable to just delay their desire for a bit until they and their community can get protected.

This is is so wild to me I’m having a hard time reconciling this.

Mask up and stay home to save grandmas! You must have a vaccine card to enter a restaurant!

But gang bangin random strangers in an alley, that’s cool.

I’m honestly more worried about the disease spreading through Burning Man than the kink community
