SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A 70-year-old woman is speaking from her bedside after being beaten brutally and even kicked in the head by multiple attackers, in broad daylight in San Francisco.

Mrs. Zheng's mother, who requested we refer to her only as Mrs. Ren, has spent the past 2 years hiding inside from COVID.

Until Sunday.

Through an interpreter, Mrs. Ren said, "Yesterday was one of the first days for a long time she went out and this is what happened."

Mrs. Ren now hides inside for another reason. She is covered in blankets and bed-ridden from the extreme pain she suffered when approached by four juveniles Sunday evening -- who asked her what time it was. She says she said "5-o'clock" and then proceeded to show the suspects her watch, since she does not speak any English and was not sure if they understood her.

"They search my body and I quickly realize they're up to no good." She says, wincing.

Mrs. Ren says that's when the suspects realized she had an iPhone 7.

Video the housing complex provided to SFPD to be used in the investigation shows the suspects follow Mrs. Ren into the elevator when she refuses to give up the phone. Mrs. Ren makes a hand gesture indicating how she tried to get the elevator doors to close.

"They got really mad and pulled me down."

Already on the ground, Mrs. Ren is kicked squarely in the face.

"They used their fist to hit my head multiple times and then they pulled me down and kept kicking me."

The horror doesn't end there. When Mrs. Ren tries to hide in the hallway, and is unable to close the door - the suspects return again. Not to steal her watch or earrings, but her keys and to take turns assaulting the terrified senior.

Her daughter begins to sob. "I never expected this to happen to us, even though we saw a lot of reporting from our station in particular you, Miss Lim." Says Mrs. Zeng.

While both Mrs. Ren and her daughter can't sleep because of the trauma, they without hesitation wanted to speak out. For a purpose.

"I want this story to come out so people know and so for other people to be aware to be safe."

SFPD tells me their Community Engagement Division is working with the family and offering them resources to recover and heal. Those with information about the case are asked to call the SFPD tip line at 415-575-4444 which allows reporting parties to remain anonymous.

So, this goes without stating, that by all accounts this will be the last you will hear about this case. Just like all the hate crimes against Asian Americans that came before, you heard the news, felt outraged, but interestingly there was never any result.

No one will be arrested, no one will held accountable. The police and politicians will do the paperwork so they can milk every once of good PR they can so they can steal more tax money. The victim will be forgotten.

That’s sad, but that’s reality.

Cowardly punks. Their souls must be full of hate and darkness to attack an elderly person. Just disgusting. Where is this violence coming from?

Oh, I’m sure they had a good reason. They needed to put food on the table or they have low self esteem or something.

My parents live in San Jose which is more prevalent with Vietnamese. But they are older and these crimes keep making it harder for me to want them to go out. They shouldn’t be afraid and this shit needs to be addressed by either the police or us at this point. Getting so tired of it since I know they don’t get prosecuted.

Tbh if they don’t start doing something about the crime against the Asian community, don’t be surprised if people don’t take action into their own hands and start seeking vigilante justice.

Imagine kicking a 70 year old woman in the head for iPhone

Jesus fuckin christ it is so hard not to be cynical in these scenarios.

Why should I care about anyone else when I see Asian seniors be treated like this?

Like lmao. Lmao. Its not even laughable at this point

So…..where is the riot, the protest or the celebrity politicians outcry that declares the whole SF city a hate free zone?

It feels so good to live in a place where the thought of getting robbed doesn't cross your mind before going out. The serenity is truly unmatched. I used to live in one of these places in the world. I hope you get there too someday. And stay. At least for a short while.

It's a shame our home sucks so much. So embarrassing having to tell visitors to watch themselves and their stuff.

Eventually this Robinhood stuff will lose its appeal and people will just side with police and some radical politicians promising to clean it all up. The cost will be everyone having less privacy and rights. And people will go for it.

1877 riots are on the horizon. SF culture of acceptance and tolerance isn't for Asians, especially the elderly.

This is literally how gangs form. If police can’t enforce the rule of law, communities themselves will in form of armed vigilantes. All good and fine until such vigilantes eventually turn into another gang/mafia.

In 10 years we will see the surge of racially motivated gang violence all over again.

These criminals are the most vile and hate filled people in our society, and considering today’s society that’s really saying something. The ONLY way that these cowardly attacks can be prevented is if every person who has the ability to do something when witnessing such an attack actually does whatever they have the ability to do.

If you can observe the attack from a safe location and call 911 with the ability to give a first hand account, it would be invaluable.

If you realistically have the ability to actually stop the attack, doing so could very well save a life. Be realistic about this, though. It doesn’t do anybody any good to add another victim to the crime.

Neighborhood actions are best. Organize a response plan with your neighbors, with specific assignments for each individual. These would include, but aren’t limited to, someone who calls 911, people responsible for strictly observing, recording and taking notes, as many able-bodied and strong men as possible to interrupt the assault. You should employ this option only when you have a comparatively large numerical advantage, and if you’re at least fairly certain that there are no guns or knives involved. Exchange phone numbers, and create a calling tree to alert as many people as possible in a very short period of time.

On a side note, NEVER get involved in a knife fight, because you WILL GET CUT. If you see a knife, keep plenty of distance between you and the person(s) wielding the knife. You should be far enough away to escape if they begin to threaten you or advance towards you.

If a gun is involved, do not become directly involved unless you have been trained in how to do so. Immediately run to a safe location, and from there call 911.

If either a gun or a knife is involved, DO NOT ENGAGE THE ARMED SUBJECT(s). Leave that situation to the police who are both trained and equipped to handle it.

The police cannot stop these assaults from occurring by themselves. Assistance by the public is essential. If neighbors organize and refuse to allow these assaults to take place unpunished, the assaults will eventually stop.

I just imagine the people behind BLM sit back at the Hall of Justice looking at video for attacks on blacks. They see this and continue to change the channel looking for black victims only.

Imagine if BLM got involved for the greater good for all races.

Everyone thinks that covid had something to do with racism. Bitch, have you ever been to a city?! Evil people are incredibly good at selecting their targets. You could even call it a natural instinct. I constantly see youths chasing down Asian couples in DC. Why would anyone want to live near this?
