Animal rights activists protest 'violent' nature of Thanksgiving in Oakland

The group, Direct Action Everywhere, said that Thanksgiving celebrates the genocide of indigenous people with a tradition of violence that takes the lives of more than 40 million turkeys every year.

Thanks for covering. It can be nice to have a Thursday with friends and family, but if we lose sight of the genocide at the root of the day or the animal abuse that comes along with it then our thanks comes with the erasure of atrocities.
