I firmly believe that when we let people commit small crimes and get away with nothing but a slap on the wrist, it leads to crimes such as this one.

I feel sorry for the family of the guard. Poor guy was just trying to make a living, only to have his life ended by a pair of punks.

Edit: I think some proactive policing works, so please stop with your "Broken Windows does not work" yapping.

That security guard is gone forever, and his family will never, never get to talk to him again.

The killer will be back on the streets in six years, with a whole lot of "street cred", and maybe a scholarship and a job as a "community organizer" if he "finds Jesus" in juvie.

That's no deterrent, which means more dead security guards. Who are mostly poor people who can't get a safer job: I've known Nigerian immigrants and elderly Korean men who do this work because they don't have better options.

We who do have better options owe them a safer workplace, because the work they do keeps stores open for us and streets safer for us.

I live near japantown and this block is pretty awful. In the last 6 months, there was a shooting while I was having dinner near Burger King, another time a couple of men broke a car window in broad daylight right in front of me, weird ass burglary and incidents lighting up in citizen app.

Damn hella sad for this security guard. Anyone know of a GoFundMe account we can donate to their family?

This is the kind of thing that incenses me. Teenagers with guns - where the f did they get the guns in the first place?? Gang member in the family? Like seriously, I have never even seen anyone with a gun in SF and you’ve got 15 year olds getting them?

I won’t even address the “motivation” behind the murder, just please lock them up and throw away the key. If we get some woke judge give them any less than 30 years, we should make sure that judge doesn’t sit on the bench much longer.

Punks tend to gravitate towards places with a lot of Asians to beat and rob.

Meanwhile we have the usual folks racing to close down any local juvenile detention facilities as quickly as possible.

Japantown businesses need support, turning away from the mall cannot be the answer for this community to thrive

Shall we find out the race of the 2 teens? Or this would be banned in this sub.

Wild how folks are rationalizing this should have been expected for the area…San Francisco really is wearing folks down.

We got youth cashing in on crimes with longer sentences than they’ve been alive…

Is this near the Fillmore center? That area seemed pretty nice.

For fucks sake, how does a 15 year old get such a callous disregard for human life? I don't care what people say about "undeveloped minds," it took a conscious, thinking mind to draw the weapon and pull the trigger, permanently erasing the life of an innocent man. The teen who pulled the trigger should never see outside a prison wall for the rest of his life, the one who was an accessory should get 25 years minimum. If he wants redemption, he can find it with God, or he can stamp license plates for the rest of his life so that his time on earth wasn't a complete waste.
