They and the neighbor that helped them are lucky this guy didn't have a knife or a gun. This must be a stressful time to run a shop, I'd absolutely want to be armed but I can understand why not everyone wants to be.

What do we want to bet that he'll be released on his own recognizance?

Under a newly implemented program by the city, he will be released and be given a weekly $2000 debit cash card stipend indefinitely until he gets it together and turns his life around. The program will be funded by a new Crime Reporting Processing & Admin Fee of $1000 for anyone reporting a crime and filing a report. Also funded by a broken window citation. If your car is caught parked with a broken window in a public place or visual publicly, you will be charged a $2000 citation.

terrible. i also dont understand the new facility they spoke about in the video in SOMA. how is 20 beds supposed to help? theres pockets of 20 homeless people every few blocks in some section of downtown. and the real estate cost for that place right in the middle of SOMA is probably outrageous. seems like a money maker more than a real place for help.

I feel so bad for the poor shoplifter who was forced into this lifestyle of crime due to systemic racism.

I pray to our woke leadership will provide the shoplifter with restorative justice not limited to:

• all charges being dropped
• a dedicated behavorial health therapist to reaffirm to the shop lifter they are the REAL victims,
• subsidized housing in the new skyrise condos being built across from oracle park
• extended unemployment, a free cell phone, free food and free transportation
• a formal handwritten apology, for the real criminals in this scenario; the evil cis-gender tax payers who failed to give this poor soul an opportunity

I used to work across the street from Tony's place and ate lunch there several times a week. Very nice folks. Sad to hear about this.
