Jesus that’s disgusting. That poor woman, I’m glad they were able to find housing for her.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Good for you SFPD.

What kind of animals abandons their grandmother. Senior homes not even a discussion in our Asian household.

The only mention in the article of her being abandoned is

Three of Ma's fellow officers responded to a call and discovered a 62-year-old Chinese-speaking woman who had, apparently, been abandoned by her family.

Are there any details of what happened or how they know she was abandoned or what that even means? Maybe this is more common than I know and everyone already knows what's going on but I just don't understand what happened here

Nice to see cops walking the streets being an actual part of the community as opposed to just rolling around in their patrol cars. Not enough of that is happening all over this country.

Find her family. They signed documents saying they would support her.

"The last resort was to bring her to a homeless shelter," Ma said. "But for an old Chinese grandma who doesn't speak English, has all her belongings in a garbage bag, using a walker, that is the very last place we want to put her."

But its good enough for the thousands of other homeless people wandering around the city, abandoned by society in some form or another? This is nothing but pointless puff journalism. And I use the term "journalism" lightly.
