It took over 3 years to get this far. The election in question was 2018. It's now 2022. If she won, what would the penalty be? IMO, nothing. Ditto all the chicanery in conservative leadership races. Doesn't matter what you did, if you win, it's over. If she somehow won, she'd have already served her whole term to the benefit of that influential money. And I gotta think that smarter fraudsters are better at working foreign money into our elections. Just like at Canada Proud, funded by the "Canada Strong and Free Network", (formerly the Manning Center)... and who do they get their money from? They won't say.

People are acting like it's justice porn, but it's way more a demonstration of how vulnerable our democracy is. And this isn't some Podunk town. It's Toronto. The fourth biggest city in North America.

Fill in the blanks. What happens next? Please tell me we aren't adopting the US political circus routine.

She took in more than most Ontarians make in a year from people outside the province who couldn't even legally donate to her.

Compliance audit committee members will review the findings at a Feb. 8 hearing and could refer them to a provincial prosecutor for possible legal action against Goldy.

Molson found that Goldy broke the Municipal Elections Act in multiple ways.

They include:

  • Failing to report $86,398.49 in campaign-period expenses.
  • Failing to report $56,117.95 in contributions by non-Ontario residents, who could not legally donate to her mayoral campaign, before the end of 2018.
  • Accepting and failing to report $12,365.99 after Dec. 31, 2018, without requesting an extension of the legal campaign period.
  • Accepting a total of $101,118 from ineligible donors outside Ontario.
  • Exceeding the legal $25,000 limit for donating to one’s own campaign by $56,388.63. The audit was triggered by a complaint from Evan Balgord, executive director of the Canadian Anti-Hate Network and a former staffer of Toronto Mayor John Tory who won re-election in 2018. Goldy finished a distant third.

At an April 2019 hearing at city hall, Goldy told the compliance audit committee that there was no wrongdoing and that her campaign finances had been reviewed by an independent auditor.

Accompanied by a crowd of cheering supporters, she suggested that the request for a compliance audit was motivated by “politics and money.”

Like much of what Ms Goldy said during the campaign, her defense was utter bullshit.

All of these articles give her a platform and give her attention.

Can we somehow just ignore this person? shun her? Stop validating her?

Here's the actual report from the auditor, if anyone is curious:

Section 4 describes the amounts of unreported campaign expenses and contributions in detail.

Good luck collecting. Faith is broke - I bought a small china cabinet from Kijiji in the summer of 2019. I learned the seller was Faith Goldy when I went to pick it up. She was having a fire sale of all her possessions at rock bottom prices, including this "important family piece" that I bought. Let me just say that the home looked like she was having to move in a hurry. I never let on that I knew who she was, but damn if she doesn't have the most intense crazy eyes.

Molson: She did this and this and this and this and this and this and all of that is wrong.

Toronto Star: "Goldy, who has denied any wrongdoing related to her campaign expenses..."

lol, she's fucked and I hope she gets what's coming to her.

By the way, can you run again if you've violated campaign finance rules this badly? Is there a law or something?
