NACI advice favouring mRNA COVID-19 vaccines contradicts previous guidance

The National Advisory Committee on Immunization is coming under fire after contradicting the advice Canadians have been receiving for weeks to take the first vaccine against COVID-19 that they're offered.

Thanks...now that my wife and I took AZ last week! Maybe we’ll “prefer” a new government.

It seems like the their recommendation is based on supply of vaccine

When we had tons of AZ doses, the first vaccine offered was the best vaccine. Now that there are no scheduled AZ deliveries in the coming months - suddenly Pfizer and Moderna are the best. These aren't scientists/doctors they are salespeople.

This is wonderful for the vaccine hesitant that did the right thing and stepped up for the AZ Vaccine. What's the point of releasing this information now that 1.2 million doses have been issued? The best vaccine is the first vaccine. Sometimes too much communication is bad.

Can we stop calling the people on this panel "experts"? Clearly, they're not. What garbage messaging - completely irresponsible and beyond-worthy of resignation if not termination.

Lovely timing after millions of Canadians followed public health advice and took the AZ jab, notwithstanding concerns over blood clots and effectiveness vs variants.

So... if you’re an essential worker, with the highest risk of exposure, you should take the riskiest vaccine because you “can’t wait”? Frankly, it’s appallingly unfair to those people already at higher risk and favours people who don’t.

The incompetents at NACI and certain other levels of government have had their turn. Time for those with proper management discipline, apolitical objectives, keen communication skills, and sound decision-making abilities to take the helm and bring us back on course.

We always knew Pfiizer and Moderna were the good ones.

Lets just make a announcement that will lead to people putting off vaccines until they can get the "preferred" one? I will say it one more time, in a life of getting vaccines I have never asked who made it. This is just going to make even more of mess, what are people thinking?

Shameful of NACi for such contradictions after we have been told repeatedly that we should take whichever we are offered first , I took the AZ for this exact reason and now this !! I am disgusted !

And it’s even worse that areas in the gta that were considered low poverty were only given options to take az.

I’m trying to be sane about this but what the heck does this mean? Do we have to get revaccinated again with Pfizer or Moderna. Are there side effects to these vaccines we haven’t been told about. I am SO ANGRY!!!

Just tell me this is a joke. The way they flip flop on everything is ridiculous.

I wonder if this less about vaccine safety and more about setting up the fact that a lot of people who got the AZ will have to get something else for the second shot (our main source for it is India and it looks like they need it way more) and they need to be ok with that

These "experts" have been wrong every step of the way. "We are at low risk of getting covid", "wear a mask/ don't wear a mask". "AZ is the best" "AZ has lots of problems". They flip flop based on what the government wants them to do. Its not for the greater good.

1 dose 95% effect, er, 2 doses? 3? wait, bosters? only 6 months now, huh. My immunity 99.98% still If they haven't identified a LIVE virus, why are people using EXPERIMENTAL gene therapy? is that why they use a flawed PCR test? https://t.co/TI8sPAAE8O

This constant flip flop is EXACTLY why you don’t take products before fda approval. Especially in this case where recovery is over >99% and it’s understated bc they’re counting death with covid as death from covid per health Canada and cdc! It’s a flu, move on!
