More than 900 full-time workers at Metro’s Etobicoke warehouse distribution centre began strike action on Saturday after voting to reject a tentative agreement with the company.

I'm surprised sobeys/farm boy hasn't, but I doubt they have unions.

They can afford it. I rarely shop at Metro and the times I did, I'm surprised of how many people shop at that store. People will pay a premium to shop at Metro than at Food Basics.

I remember the time that, after two weeks on strike at Loblaws, the members of our local agreed to (what many felt was) a worse offer than one we'd already turned down, because people with families were having a hard time living on $20/day in strike pay.

I shop at etobicoke metros regularly but will wait until the strike is over now to resume.
