The problem for everyone in Toronto is it doesn’t seem the subway pushing victim could have done anything differently to avoid her fate.

When the train is coming, I always keep my back to the wall or in stay in the middle of the platform if I'm next to the stairs/elevators.

No one should have to fear for their life while riding public transit and what happened here is abhorrent.
But as you can see in the pictures themselves, there is absolutely something they could have done: not stand that close to the edge.
Trust no one with your safety but you.

I’ve got the resolution to this, build a steel bar railing system with operating gates, so when the train stops it lifts the section to allow travellers to enter and leave the train…I’ve been wondering years why this has never been developed or designed…
