Some Toronto residents say they're waiting up to 24 hours for police after calling 911

Sergio de Ilzarbe came home from his Christmas holidays to find his window smashed in and part of his home ransacked.

My girlfriend was assaulted on the way to work early in the morning. She called 9/11. They kept asking.. Are you sure you want a police officer to come. No one ever showed up.

Don’t forget to tip 25% on the fraction of your property tax that goes to police when you get your service. Those guys remember and make you pay for it on your next order.

“I need to fix it, but I don’t want to touch [it] in case there are fingerprints, and the police keep not coming,” de Ilzarbe said.

Oh precious… they’re not going to fingerprint or look for a burglar. Next time you’re a victim of crime try being a corporation.

What concerns me even more than the wait time for a police officer is the number of times I've been put on hold for more than 5+ minutes on 911

The City of Toronto needs to fix that issue immediately by hiring more operators. Not 50 extra cops for the TTC

What the actual f are we paying for with 10% of total city budget?

Is this a " this is why the police need more funding" example?

But we just jacked their budget, that should make the service better right?… right?…

Cops have a strict prioritization method: they look at your address and use that to determine an approximation of your wealth and from there decide if they should show up with any or all of the police.

Lordy knows a Karen on the Bridal Path will get at least 6 cop cars showing up within 5 minutes of them receiving a report of a wandering person who looks homeless.

It almost like giving police more money doesn’t improve service… 🤔

I called 911 four months ago.... Twice. I'm still waiting for them to show up. Lol. I never even got a phonecall back.

Is this why cops are asking for 46m$ on top of the 1b$ they get every year? Fucking joke, imagine waiting for the cops for 24 hours lol

Apparently what they're doing with the billion dollars we give them every year is sitting around jacking off, because they're certainly not doing their jobs.

You know they're all doing this on purpose right? This is their strategy post the BLM and Defund the Police movements. And it works, hence this recent influx of cash. And I mean cops EVERYWHERE are doing this, just look at how many campaigns in the states shifted so heavily to crime in their recent elections. So gross.

Hey maybe we should start our own police service. Collect donations from people in the neighbourhood. Actually patrol neighbourhoods on foot at night, chase away people breaking into cars and stuff. I bet people would pay for that service.

Maybe that's what TPS needs is some competition.
