‘This guy got a slap on the wrist’: Driver sentenced for 2018 Parkside Drive fatal crash - Toronto

O'Jay Sabater's family is disappointed with the sentence, wondering what kind of punishment a driving ban is if La Twayne Anderson can still drive.

Justice of the peace Donald W. Buchanan of the Ontario court of justice said Anderson, who is now 27, will have to live with bad memories for the rest of his life and remember the harm and devastation he’s caused.

Bad memories? Wow. And how do they even enforce the partial driving ban? No one will know if he is driving outside the hours. All this because the bus is not good enough and he "needs" the car for work - this is what car culture gives us.. This guy swerves ""for no reason"" (probably pulling a manouver be didn't want to say it) and gets such a flaky sentence. The laws really are pathetic here. Letting people drive is still more important than getting convicted dangerous drivers off the road.

Easiest way to commit murder in this province is to hit someone with a car.

I don't really care about jail time and I don't really care about the fine.

What I care about is the complete unwillingness to prevent dangerous drivers from getting back into cars. Driving is supposed to be a responsibility. If you drive dangerously, you should need to prove that you can drive safely via some sort of road test before you're allowed to drive again. Banning people from driving at night for a year will do almost nothing.

Car based fatalities are always certain to get little more than a slap on the wrist. Shameful.
