Toronto staff report recommends changes to help make CafeTO permanent

Toronto city staff released a report Tuesday laying out recommendations for how the popular CaféTO program could work going forward, but the possible changes mean business owners would pay thousands in permitting fees each year.

Awesome!
Now allow them to be built up and not orange traffic cone chic. I want patios like New York, dammit.

Fully support this. The city comes alive in so many exciting new ways with this. Love it. The less space for cars, the better.

Switch the patio and sidewalk part around like they do in other parts of ON (So have the patio be immediately outside the restaurant, and put the pedestrians on a raised walkway where the patios now are on what was the road) and it'll be absolutely perfect. That one change would make a huge difference
But overall absolutely love CafeTO and what it brings to the city

Ban cars, invest in public transit, make the city more walkable and relaxing and less functionally hostile. There are a million reasons why Toronto is a depressing ass city but I think having more places to chill out would be a nice start.
