Isn't this just basically a vaccine passport of some sort, that Doug adamantly said the province would not be doing?

FFS the incompetence never stops with these people.

safetodo.ca already had to shut down due to anti-vaxxers being twats. Hopefully a government version that doesn't force businesses to choose whether or not to comply will reduce that. But I doubt it. Love that the vocal minority is making things miserable for those of us who are just trying to keep some friends and family members safe.

Absolutely. A certificate or a government approved waiver to anything from sports to cinema, to concerts, to trade shows, amusement parks. It will allow then venues to increase their capacity more safely and encourage the hold outs to get their shots. Get 'er done!

Can they not just give a free 649 ticket with every first and second shot receipt moving forward.

The government dropped the ball on this, vaccine passports/certificates should’ve been a thing from the start. It makes it easier and safer for more businesses and events to reopen, and encourages people to get vaxxed.

Of course there are the anti-vaxxers who whine and compare them to Holocaust arm bands but we can’t function as a society listening to people like that.

Those who are vaxxed should be demanding this, btw. The unvaxxed are basically threatening to fuck over the freedom we're enjoying by spreading Delta and having it mutate.

Personally, I dont want to be at a concert or event with unvaccinated sick idiots screwing me over. I also dont want the last year of my life to have been for nothing because those same idiots created a new variant of the virus thats even worse.

I vote for carrot and stick. Give perks for being vaxed with this type of certificate but also raise taxes to help pay for the pandemic. But give everyone double vaxed the tax break that covers it leaving the unvaxed holding the bag.

As someone, like many others, who lost a family friend (that wasn’t sick or 70+) to this disease, I’m quite unapologetically militant on the issue.

If we accept the overwhelming science that this is a highly contagious, fast acting deathly disease there can only be one stand and that’s not giving into the anti-science, anti-mask, anti-vaccine crowd.

The first step is we must have a national vaccine passport. It must be easy to get and easy to recognize.

Then the laws need to be amended such that everyone and every business will have the right to see your passport. The laws also need to unequivocally state that if you refuse or your passport shows you’re not vaccinated then the business (etc) has the legal right to refuse service and remove you from their property. The only exception are for people with a valid medical reason, as issued by a doctor and clearly stated in the passport. Not even religious grounds is sufficient to escape a disease here on earth.

Finally government services need to be tied to the vax passport. Want your drivers license? Show your passport. Want a travel passport? Show your passport. Want to use the library? Believe it or not show your passport.

Anything less than this is giving in to nut jobs and not taking this disease seriously. We either make a real effort to combat the deadlier variants or we can keep up this theatre and insult the memories of those who have died and those who are fighting to keep us alive.

We need some kind of incentive. I'm not interesting in punishing those who don't take the vax, but it feels ridiculous to be double vaxed and still have to walk around in masks. I personally know several people who are on the fence, but as long as they have to wear masks they're just like, ''I don't really see the point. You don't get to do anything more, anyway.'' There just is not enough of an incentive to get them to make that leap.

No passports, no discrimination, no coercion, no vilification - educate, persuade and be transparent - be kind as we find our exit from this stress tunnel.

Maybe unpopular opinion, but not in favour of mandating vaccinations (double vaxxed tho aaand I have health conditions). I think it’s shown that the vaccine does work, and if someone chooses to not get the vaccine and gets infected then it’s on them. I think one approach would be to provide equal access, but if you can show you’ve gotten vaccine then you don’t need to wear mask or something like that. But then again, do we really expect businesses to care if you’re vaxxed? No 16 year old cashier will bother fighting you for it

I thought once people got vaccinated they would chill out and put Covid-19 behind them. Apparently not, some people want to carry on with the hysteria until every last person on the planet is fully dosed.

Good, I swear all the opposition to this miraculous vaccine astounds me, It does however indicate someone who does not understand their civic duty and role to play in a civilization (that means taking care of each other) often involves a small concession of some individual choices. Stop acting like fragile snowflakes and trust the fucking scientists that have worked a miracle for you. We have been held back by lack of funding and bureaucratic process for so long that when the world actually works together to solve a single fucking problem, the populace believe it isn't real.

Why are the vaccinated people so worried about getting the virus they are vaccinated against? Does not add up.

I’m in support of this as a temporary measure. Chief Medical recently suggested we should not exit stage 3 unless 90% of 12+ are vaccinated. Given how much 1st doses have tapered I really don’t see reach 90% as a feasible goal.

If they insist on 90%, then start denying the unvaccinated certain privileges. Let the rest of us who did why we could enjoy our lives. Doesn’t make sense to punish those who got the vaccine because others didn’t want to get one.
