You know, as I left the polling station a couple weeks ago, I did wonder what would happen if the person I voted for dropped out of the race. I even googled it to see.

So nice to know I voted early just to waste a vote.

Asking a genuine question because I’m not well educated on this issue: is any criticism of Israel considered anti-Semitic? Is that because Jewish values are inherently tied to the actions of the Israeli government? I always get a bit confused with this stuff but I suspect I’m missing something? Asking genuinely so please don’t downvote me…

Credit to the NDP leadership for standing up against bigotry in their own party. It is sad that she was able to get this far, but I'm glad the problem was fixed once it came to light.

I hope this sends a message that antisemitism, as well as all forms of bigotry, have no place in that party or any party.

Come onnnnnnnnnn.

I voted NDP specifically because the Liberal party is a dumpster fire and the Conservative party is, well... just look how well things are going in Ontario.

So glad my vote was wasted.

I'm actually pretty pissed off right now, not going to lie.

Edit: To be clear, I'm not pissed she's resigning. I'm pissed because whoever did the vetting did a piss-poor job and as a result, I wasted a vote on someone who is not likely to win.

Ugh…. and I voted NDP last weekend. NDP wants to make the jump into more than a 3rd place party but they need to up their game in candidates in major ridings.

So the vote I made before all this came to light is now a complete waste and I can't change it. Great.

jfc I literally went out canvassing with her the other week since I support NDP and needed something to do, she seemed fine, she was even worried about a tweet where she called Bennett "tone deaf" because it could be read as ableist, I never thought she'd be into conspiracies like that though?? I'm someone who is highly critical of Israel, but come on. Glad I didn't do another shift...

God this district is weak. Now it’s between old trash like Bennett or a so called yoga entrepreneur running for the cons. St. Paul’s needs help

I would consider voting for the NDP in a lot more elections if they did a better job at screening their candidates. Too many people with fringe positions, controversial statements and checkered pasts are allowed to run.

So... what about any advance polls that voted for her before this happened?

Not a very good political move to tweet anti semitic tweets when Toronto St. Paul is a very jewish neighbourhood? Not sure what the thought process was here…

The NDP seems to have an issue with anti-Semitism there are at least 3 candidates now that have said some horrible things in public. 2 this year, and a couple years back one who shared a Hitler meme. Not to mention their positions on trying to literally change the definition of anti-Semitism.

This is just an ONGOING ISSUE for this party, isn't it?

Oh wow, who could possibly have seen this coming from the party that voted on like six different resolutions targeting Israel at their 2021 party convention.

How about educating yourselves in not posting your shower thoughts on Twitter? That might help.

Sadly, she will still be on the ballot, and will still probably get votes.

Read the thread title with no additional information and guessed anti-semitism.

The hatred that brings left wingers and right wingers together.

St. Paul's has a large chunk of Forest Hill in it...like how does someone make it as far in life as Sidney Coles did? HOW?

It's depressing, I have considered myself a pretty reliable NDP voter but they've put together a clown car slate of candidates this year. They seem to be fully settling into and accepting never being a serious contender. I get that part of that is being realistic, but it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. I don't even know who I'm voting for now tbqh.

isnt it great when politicians actually suffer consequences?

I Googled “sidney cole riding” to find out what riding she was running in.

Not the result I was looking for.
